Both of these photo’s show the toboggan slide on Lake Redwood.  The slide was built as an added attraction for the lake and after a few years was dismantled due to injuries.

North Redwood Railroad Trestle and Granite Works

We are back in North Redwood this morning.  The first photo is the M&StL, or also known as the Tootin Louie, coming into North Redwood from the west.  Note the old bridge over the Redwood river to the right.
The second is the North Redwood Granite works which processed all the granite mined north of town for the old High School, Ramsey park, and memorial field.  Both of these photo’s are 1900 vintage.

Off to War . . .

These photo’s were taken at a picnic-ice cream social held for the Redwood county troops who had gone off to World War I.  The city held this celebration in the summer of 1919 to welcome all the boys home.

Vintage Photos from Alexander Ramsey Park

Three unknown people on the high drive in Ramsey park approx. 1912.  Note the courhouse tower in background.  The second photo is a late 1800’s shot of Ramsey falls and some venturesome youth.  This is from a glass plate negative.  Note the total lack of trees.
